US 183 Access Road Partially Reopened

Two lanes of the US 183 access road in front of the Echelon I building in northwest Austin are open again tonight, in time for the Tuesday morning commute.  The lane closest to the damaged building will stay closed as the building is repaired, according to TxDOT.

There may be additional overnight lane closures to accommodate repairs as well.

The access road has been closed to traffic for about a week and a half, since Joseph Stack flew his plane into the building, killing IRS manager Vernon Hunter and injuring 13 people. Engineers have determined that the Echelon I building is stable, and the owner has announced that they will repair it.
