Who We Are

Ryan Loyd
Austin Citysphere Editor-in-Chief

Ryan Loyd is a multi-platform journalist devoted to storytelling in Austin, Texas. Although his day job is television reporting, he spends much of his (barely) spare time gathering audio and video podcast materials, news information, and writing blogs for The Austin Citysphere!

Ryan also holds the titles of dad, husband, and proud Texan. The loves of his life are his wife, his ever-growing, ever changing and amazing son, his family and friends, and two dogs - who don't quite realize how spoiled they are.

In the winter of 2010, Ryan was nominated for the Austin American-Statesman's Texas Social Media Award.  He competed against hundreds of people from across the state who live and breathe social media, and those who dedicate their time online to special causes or news and information.  Ryan's nomination was based on his social media experience on Twitter, Facebook, and of course his work with The Austin Citysphere, which provides news, information, blogs, as well as audio and video podcasts, on everything Austin.

Ryan is also passionate about information and the truth-seeking.  After years of interning and working on the radio and behind the scenes in television, he began his career as a reporter in 2002.  He attended Texas Lutheran University, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in communication studies.  He's worked in Joplin, Missouri, San Antonio, Sherman, and Austin.

Sarah Loyd
Austin Citysphere Managing Editor

Sarah is one of the creative forces who helps make ACS what it is. She is the site's web'spert, writer, and assignment manager.  But she's much more than that.  She's an amazing mother, wife, cook, and a "general optimist living in a pessimistic world," according to a previous blog description.

Sarah attended Texas Lutheran University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication studies.  Sarah's previous experience includes time in human resources, sales, and of course news.  She is currently in the creative services department of a local network affiliate, where she spends nearly 99% of her time being creative.  The remaining 1% of her time at work is spent either talking to her husband, thinking about the baby, or dreaming up ways to become independently wealthy.

In the spring of 2010, Sarah entered two commercials for producing Best Local TV Spot, and she and her department were nominated for Best Creative Services department.

A native of Texas, Sarah says she just loves the warm weather of the Lone Star State. She couldn't imagine being in any other town except Austin. Sarah's favorite temperature is 74 degrees Farenheit.
