The capital of Texas tied with the nation's capital as the top city where the recession is easing, according to Forbes.com.
Austin's job market pushed it to tie with Washington, D.C. in the survey, coming in third for lowest unemployment, second for the three-year job growth forecast, and first for job growth over the past three years.
The cities on the list were all recognized for relatively healthy housing markets and recession-proof industries like government, defense, education and technology.
Texas' four largest cities were all in the top 10. Dallas was listed at #3. The Houston-Sugar Land area was tied for #4, while San Antonio came in at #7 on the list.
