Volunteers Needed for It's My Park Day

As spring approaches, the Austin Parks Foundation is opening up volunteer registration for It's My Park Day on March 6.

The foundation has a goal to recruit 3,000 volunteers to work at 60 different parks throughout the city.  The projects include painting, mulching, planting, hauling, shoveling and more, and are led by a volunteer site organizer.

During last year's It's My Park Day, 2,500 volunteers gave more than 8,750 hours of their time to help out at the parks.

“What’s really amazing about this event is that it is all volunteer driven. Every year, we see more and more volunteers stepping forward to take leadership roles and adopt parks,” said Austin Parks Foundation Executive Director Charlie McCabe.

Volunteers at It's My Park Day will receive a great looking T-shirt, water, snacks and other goodies. To register to volunteer, visit www.austinparks.org.
