Bill White: Austin or Washington?

Friday is soon-to-be-former Houston mayor Bill White's self-imposed deadline to decide whether he will continue his campaign for Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison's seat in Congress, or change his course and run for governor of Texas. Since November 23rd, White has been asking for feedback from the public at his website as to what he should do. (It was smart of White to have the foresight to register his domain name as billwhitefortexas.com, so he can go either way.)

White will make his announcement Friday at noon from Houston, the town which he led for three terms until term limits prevented him from running again. His decision may be the only story that could potentially upstage a rare showing of snow in Texas. It has been a long time since the Democrats in Texas have had a serious contender for governor, so it will be interesting to see how the climate of the governor's race will be after the snowstorm blows over.
