Austin man arrested for 'nonviolent disobedience'

Ken Hayes has always wanted to make a difference. But this time, his beliefs may have landed him a hefty fine and some jail time. He, along with three other protesters, trespassed at Ft. Benning because they want controversial school to close.

It's the U.S. Army’s School of the Americas, now called the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation (SOA/WHINSEC), responsible for training Latin American soldiers and policemen; "among them many notorious for human rights violations, including 11 military dictators and some who led the coup in Honduras that deposed President Manuel Zelaya in June," said a press statement.

Ryan, the army's defense that they are not responsible for the crimes of their graduates is disingenuous. Sure some graduates of Harvard and Yale commit crimes. G W Bush for example. However Harvard and Yale do not teach torture and extrajudicial executions. Also the army does all it can to make it difficult to track their graduates. For example, they have been refusing to release the student names.
