Homelessness and Hunger Awareness Week
This is Thanksgiving week, which means a shortened week for those in Austin. As a reminder of the hunger problem across the nation, Homelessness and Hunger Week concluded with many projects to shed light on the problem that plagues communities far and wide.
The National Coalition for the Homeless says this:
Each year, one week before Thanksgiving, National Coalition for the Homeless and the National Student Campaign Against Hunger and Homelessness co-sponsor National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week. During this week, a number of schools, communities and cities take part in a nationwide effort to bring greater awareness to the problems of hunger and homelessness. If your community has already joined this effort, this guide can serve as an evaluator for past efforts and possibly offer fresh ideas for the future. If this is your first time participating, this guide will explain how your community can get involved!
It's nearly impossible to measure the issue of homelessness, but people in Austin are serving those less fortunate despite the awareness week.
In this episode, watch as Jason from River Bend Church, and others through the Mobile Loaves and Fishes program, work to provide for the homeless and the hungry.
