Why the Hell Not

The Kinky Campaign is on here in the Lone Star State. I guess it's more a crusade, really. He's the Jewish Singing Politician who's revving up to take over the Governor's Mansion. And really, what's not to like about the guy? He's got style. He's got brains. He's got facial hair. Oh, and he knows Willie, too. But seriously folks, the lot of you should pay attention the next time you hear the phrase, "Why the hell not?" Because what have all the other politicans gotten us into? Mumbo jumbo on health care issues, mumbo jumbo on education, mumbo jumbo on why so many Texans, and Americans at large, are living in poverty. More like existing in poverty. So why the hell not give someone else a shot... what have we got to lose? Speaking of that, Sarah and I saw a campaign ad for Kinky along those lines... "Friedman's just another name for nothing left to lose." Wow! What a clever egg in his basket 'o candidacy.

I must point out I am NOT a bumber sticker fan. However, I must point out another thing: I've now had two total bumber stickers EVER on my vehicles. One on my Explorer promoting "Skate Uvalde" and the other on my Saturn promoting the one, the only... "K"inky Friedman. And both have come from John. What can I say, I guess he brings out the bumper sticker in me.

What a weekend. I guess, in keeping with the ritual that has become birthday party central around my kingdom, this marks the second official celebration of my upcoming 27th year on Planet Earth. The first was a few weekends ago when Todd and Sarah planned a little surprise gathering for Rachel and me. Her birthday is actually... today! Happy B-Day baby. I only say that birthdays are a big ritual around here because both Sarah and I do quite a bit for each other's special day. Her birthday always starts out with the "Happy Birthday Baby" song by Ronnie Milsap (although that song is NOT a real great song for two people in love like us... because it's sort of a "do you remember" song for a couple of people not together anymore... still the "Happy, happy birthday baby" part is great and it's what I like and I just always think it's a good song for birthdays for my baby). Sarah's birthday is often times a couple of weeks in celebration length, and there's fanfare with cake, sometimes a surprise like this year, and a special and splurgy gift(s).

As I was saying... this weekend Rachael and Janette came into town. We did karaoake, lots of drinking here at home, dinners, and general visiting. We all had Labor Day off, and so Sarah and I slept in (we've been having quite a few late nights) and everyone had to leave at some point to get back to their respective lives.

Got to the dog park for the second week in a row. It was great, and Barker even got to go inside... and didn't have to stare at all the playfulness going on inside from the outside. He proved that he could be a great play buddy and not be the asshole bully dog that he sometimes sounds like.

All the dust baths called for a real bath today... I got Barker and Hailey in the shower with me... that's the first time and it worked out well. It wasn't as dramatic as it usually is in the bathtub with all the splishing and splashing my dogs make. Got in, got wet, got washed, and got out.

Holiday is over, but not the rest of my two days off from work. Got some beer to drink and places to go... but not all at the same time.

Hey Ryan. The campaign needs all the help we can get. I hope you continue to post articles about Kinky Friedman and hope you get the chance to help defend Kinky on my site. When you're on the side of truth, the fight is way easier. It's been getting pretty heated on my most recent lengthy post on Kinky Friedman and Texas Issues. If you ever want to share any videos of Kinky, I have a helpful post, Kinky Friedman Videos and Audio Links. Thanks for all your support. I'm from S.A. too.

Wow... amazing how people will cut and paste their own opinion rather than forming a coherent reply to a personal blog entry!

Anyway... thanks, John, for the stickers... I've got one on my car, and Rachael has one on her car all the way down in Galveston now.

And thanks, babe, for hosting some democratic discussion. :)

love ya!
