This isn't so much as a "Where's Waldo" type of adventure... but... I thought of a fantastic idea today that just might be the inspiration for many future blogs: where my camera goes and what my camera sees.

The guy I interviewed was very cool, the general manager of a marina. I think it's the most time I've spent with the subject of a story in a long time. I got there about 12:30 or so, left the marina about 3:30. Yikes! But I got to ride around on his John Deere gator, got to be a part of his world for a longer time than I usually get to spend with someone. I'm not sure, under the circumstances of a deadline and a live shot to get on the air, that I got to fully portray his world through my story... but I think the most important thing I accomplished was that I got to better understand his world in my own mind. The most I ever spend with someone I do a story with is an hour. It's often time less than that. But this guy took me out on the water for a while to get video of the lake levels and he gave me two bottles of Poweraid. I guess I just don't see this side of people that much... you know, when I'm hurrying to get stuff done.
A week from this Saturday I'll be 27. As John put it today... the "late twenties." Oooh, that's a scary thought. But you know, I've really been looking forward to 27... and I will have plenty of forthcoming thoughts on this age.
First one:
27 -- husband, lover, father (puppies count too), friend, brother, son (in-love), sinner...
So lucky to have made it this far, and to have made it this far and be honored to hold the titles which could not be possible without the people in my life who make me what I am.
