Austin police need your help to catch a couple of crooks who burglarized a home in the 4500 block of Pack Saddle Pass in south Austin. A Google search of Pack Saddle Pass estimates an average home value in the Westgate neighborhood of more than $200,000.
The burglary happened on January 22 just after 3:30 p.m. It's been two and a half months since the crime, and police have come up with little information to solve the case.
But the homeowner is hoping images captured on surveillance cameras outside of the home will lead police to tips that will put the burglars behind bars. These images were captured the day of the intrusion, recording the crooks' every step as they helped themselves to the homeowner's belongings.
Police say on video, the burglars are seen kicking in the front door of the house, making an entry and leaving with items including a flat screen TV, as you can see to the right.
The brave burglars did all of their work in the middle of the workday. The homeowners were possibly away making a living, while the thieves worked up a sweat taking what wasn't theirs.
One of the suspects is described as Hispanic in his early 20's with a heavy build. The second suspect is Hispanic or black, according to police, in his early 20's with a thin build. This case is currently under investigation by the Austin Police Department. Anyone with information is asked to call the South Bureau Detectives at 512-974-4259, call Crime Stoppers at 512-472-TIPS or Text TIP103 to CRIMES.
