Austin Police have arrested a man in connection with several purse snatchings in grocery store parking lots around the city.
Justin McCain, 24, has been charged with three felonies: two counts of Theft from Person in both Travis and Williamson Counties, as well as one count of Possession of Identifying Documents.
Police detectives say there could still be more suspects, and are continuing to work some unsolved cases.
Anyone with information is asked to call the North Bureau Detectives at 512-974-5749, Crimestoppers at 512-472-TIPS or text TIP103 to CRIMES (274637).
APD suggests several things to reduce your chances of being a victim. First, be aware of your surroundings before unloading your groceries. If you notice someone following you, go back into the store and call 911. When you are unloading groceries at your car, put your purse into the car first. If your purse is snatched, don't try to grab it - call 911 immediately and then call your financial institutions.
