MLK Day of Service Gets Austinites Involved

Austinites will be picking up brooms and paint brushes this Saturday for a day of service in celebration of Martin Luther King, Junior day.

The holiday is officially Monday, and community service will be the theme for hundreds of people that day as well as two days prior. The United Way Capital Area's volunteer program, called Hands on Central Texas, is collaborating with local non-profit organizations, parks, and schools. A list of projects is available ranging from park cleanup, landscaping, French Legation Museum restoration, and remodeling of a garage at Out Youth to transform it into a library.

If you'd like information on how to contribute your services to other long-term volunteer opportunities, go to I Live Here I Give Here.
