Austinites Offer Hope to Haitians

Earthquake Damage, NECN
A massive 7.0 earthquake rocked the impoverished nation of Haiti Tuesday, and now people from Austin are offering their help and support.

Missionaries who served in Haiti before say the country is very poor, and normal conditions are substandard. But during the aftermath of a natural disaster, Haiti is in even worse shape than before. The Red Cross is committing $1 million toward the efforts to clean-up efforts, and the central Texas chapter is telling people that monetary donations will go much further than "in-kind" donations like blankets and supplies. Local Red Cross members say even $5 goes a long way.

If you would like to donate, check out the American Red Cross of Central Texas.
