Travel and Game Tickets Become Hot Commodity

The country's top two college football programs are set to meet on January 7, 2010 in Pasadena, Calif. for the BCS National Championship game. The match-up between Alabama and Texas has travelers looking for tickets to the game, as well as tickets to get to the game.

Anthony Travel is the official travel provider of UT bowl game fan and alumni travel. The company confirmed more than 650 travel packages have been sold.

“There has been a huge showing of fan support for the undefeated Longhorns this year,” said John Anthony, President and CEO of Anthony Travel. “After only two days of sales following the bowl game announcements, we have helped [hundreds] of fans book travel packages that are sure to provide a memorable bowl game experience in Pasadena.”

Other companies offer similar travel packages, including SportsTravel.com, which offer a way to the game with other fans. Travel from Austin has sold out, according to the site, but there are packages from Dallas still available, as well as "land only" deals.

Tuesday, tickets to the BCS game went on sale to the general public, but vendors like Ticket Master sold out within minutes. Fans say one alternative may be to locate tickets through Stub Hub, whose site boasts Where Fans Buy and Sell Tickets.

Tickets for the game and travel arrangements to the game may not be cheap, but fans are willing to pay top dollar to be a part of the action when the Longhorns face the Crimson Tide in what could be the hardest fought contest of the year.
