On the Road Again

vue.jpg

I Just Can't Wait to get On the Road again...

I think Sarah felt the same way, having to get up in the wee hours of the morning to take me to work. Flash back: a week ago this past Thursday, I was rear-ended by someone on the Parkway. The insurance companies have been great. And so was my favorite dealership in the whole world. So I'm back in a set of wheels and things have worked out so well.

In other news, it was a totally great weekend. Our visit south made for one heck of a quality visit with my folks and just getting to relax. I have to admit sometimes I dread having to drive that whole way... but in the past, we've always had a very jam-packed agenda. This time, our agenda was sitting at home doing nothing! So I think that makes all the difference in the world. Whether it was a Nickel Creek concert or a Norah Jones show, or a very busy wedding week, there was just no time to visit with my family. We had a great weekend.

Feel-Good Flavors

Since it is the fall, and we even fall-ified our home (new curtains, pumpkin-scented candles, and a few little fall towels/decor here and there), it's also time to flavorize the season! Recently, Albertson's had Dreyers Pumpkin ice cream on display. Actually, it was the day of the accident! I went to the doctor to get checked out, and he gave me a prescription for a medicine that was $80! Geez! So instead, we opted to feed me Motrin and picked up a $4 remedy: pumpkin-flavored ice cream! Ok, so the only thing is that we went grocery shopping last night and they didn't have it... at all! Not Dreyers, not Blue Bell....nothing! Oh well.

At least I still have my Pumpkin beer. I made a batch myself! Plus, we've been picking up the Buffalo Bills and Blue Moon pumpkin seasonals as well. Good for the palate; good for the soul.

Tweens

I recently thought about how awkward it was to be a 'tween.' It's that age when you're not a teen, but you're not really a child anymore. But you know what, I think there are many more times when we can be tweens. I think I'm one right now, at least as far as my current situation is right now. I'm 28 - which, for my location, is in between the age groups of 21-25 and those much older than me. I don't have a lot of friends my age here, and so I find myself in the middle of a really younger age group, or a really older. I don't believe there's anything wrong with that whatsoever. But it just kind of makes itself very apparent at times when you think -- it's the weekend, where are all the parties? (Not that I'm a partier anymore, either. I guess it'd be nice to hang on to those college years as long as possible).

Good Week

I just feel it's going to be a great week. With some recent events, I guess I'm just feeling a change. And isn't it nice when the house is clean, things are in order, groceries are in the pantry, and the sun is out. It's even nicer when that cool, crisp fall feeling makes itself known. I love the fall. It's my favorite season. I can't wait for the window-opening, candle burning, wine drinking nights that I'll spend with my wife this year. What a wonderful time.
