Ring around the Rosey

Today I got my wedding ring back. It's only been two days since I dropped the 9 1/4 ring I got married with off. They said it'd take up to six weeks to get back. I've found, though, that with jewelry stores, the time frame of jewelry turnaround is like the result I got today. The lady who told me I need to wear a 9 1/4 was a freaking idiot. After two months of wearing the thing, my finger is now swolen, it hurts, and there was a distinct and significant white intention on my finger. Hopefully, this 10 will do much better. She was there, of course, when I went to pick it up today... and in the most polite otherwise patronizing voice I've ever heard, said, "Did I size you wrong?" The polite but patronizing answer is yes. I'm a little saddened, because you know I'm the sentimental guy who realizes this new ring is very shiny, pretty, and fits my finger better, but it's also not the ring I got married with. It's not the ring Pastor Greg blessed. That's only...shudder... symbolism... but see, it means a lot to me. I think one of these days, while I happen to be in Seguin, I may stop in and have to say a prayer with P. Greg and have him bless this one too.

I am utterly exhausted right now. I worked very hard today. A little before 2, everything on my other stories in Seguin were going okay. But this several hundred acre brush fire in Comal County was happening. This always makes for a great day. I do love the rushing, shooting breaking news, having the scene be in chaos around me, and having to write and edit all in a very short amount of time. This is what I love. Per usual, it was 4:30 before I was editing my piece (whereas a normal story would be started on editing about 3 for a 5 pm deadline). But it turned out great.

We are trying our gym routine in the morning now. Which is so much better for our schedule, especially during the evenings. In the morning, I have spinning. It's nearly 11 now. But we went to bed, or, uh-hum, to sleep, around midnight last night. That gave us six hours to sleep before getting up to gym it up. Should be better tomorrow morning since I am craving the bed, and tonight it will be an honest get in bed-go to sleep kind of night. Seeing as how my honey is already in the sleep state.

I think we both had great days. But Sarah's ended in a fender bender on 410/90 as she was driving home from work. I felt helpless as I was no where near her, and as I asked questions and tried to size up the situation from afar, she started to cry. That is the most hurtful part to hear. Of course, she's fine. But you know, it's the emotion of the thing that really gets to you. No one ever wants to have an accident. I guess it happens... and to my inner-strength's guider of the day, it happens every day. We'll just have to see where this takes our "accident forgiveness insurance."

Tonight, it was the curry special as prepared by yours truly. I got home while Sarah was still at yoga, stretching and mentally pushing away the day. I picked up my ring, dropped by an already closed Minnano Japanese grocery store (but she opened the door for me because I called and practially said "I don't wanna go spend my money at HEB!") I needed soy sauce. I walked out with that, plum ice cream, and a stir-fry cooking sauce. Hey, she opened up for me after closing, I had to at least get ice cream (not so big of a stretch anyway) and something else! Oh, and I had to drop off some tapes at work.

I'm on mental work down, and I've been in the mood for "promoting sleepiness" all night long. It's just about that time. I'm winding down my glass of wine anyway.

Norah's on iTunes, the dogs are in their respective beds, and this is just a perfect end. It's funny how the dogs will put themselves to bed when they're tired. It's especially odd when they do it and we're still very much up. I think they realize they, too, need to get in their own wind down mode and promote sleepiness. Afterall, a tired puppy is a cranky puppy.

I hear that.

Thanks for the relaxing evening last night... and for waking up early this morning. It's always easier to get things done with my partner. :)
