This Week on 'As Seen on Radio'

Listen to internet radio with Austin Citysphere on Blog Talk Radio

Get away before the summer is over!  Texas Monthly tells about five great getaways, and we discuss some of our own favorite places.

Also, it's one of the most highly debated city council vote.  Mayor Leffingwell and the council voted not to settle with the family of a shooting victim last year.  Hear with Austin's NAACP leader thinks, and we break down what some of the council members think.

Williamson County busts stores for selling tobacco to minors.  Was it successful?  Deputy Mike Pendley talks about the successful sting, even though stores knew the cops were coming!

It's all on this LIVE edition of As Seen on Radio, where we talk all about your city and the issues that matter.

This is the first edition of As Seen on Radio with Ryan Loyd and Thomas McDonald on The Austin Citysphere!

The hot temperatures and the city's strategy to save water, the recession, and the president of the Austin police association top the list of topics on the show.

Cactus Cafe Closing, Haiti Relief, and Bollywood Dancing in Austin

We cover it all on ACS on BlogTalkRadio, including the shocking news that the historic Cactus Cafe is closing its doors!  Listen to the show and act!  Here's some information regarding the show.

If you'd like the join the Facebook movement to Save the Cactus Cafe, a movement bearing the same name is online with thousands of members already.  Wiley Koepp, who formed the group, talked with ACS on BlogTalkRadio and what he thinks will happen because of this grassroots effort.

Haiti relief efforts continue and many central Texans are joining the cause through Mission of Hope Haiti.  Sarena Green, a registered nurse, talked about her trip and what she did in Haiti.  Her trip begins a three to six month campaign for doctors, nurses, missionaries and those with supplies to spend one week shifts in the earthquake shaken country to help out.

Check out a Bollywood Dance Game to help malnutrition.  Brock Sampson talked on the program about what this craze is, how it started, and how people in Austin can get involved.  Check out this video... it's awesome!  Then check out their web site and e-mail Brock at brock@itsbiggerthanyou.org.  Here is also a link to ItsBiggerThanYou.org.

Longhorn Talk Days Before Big BCS Match up

The Longhorns will face off against the Crimson Tide on Thursday in Pasadena, CA. It's a championship game the Longhorns have prepared all season for, and they are bringing their best to meet the nation's number one team, Alabama.

But the Longhorns have also dealt with problems off the field with several players being arrested in the past four months. How will this effect the mindset of the players as they move forward with hopes of a victory in the Sunshine State?

My guests tonight include Peter Bean, site founder and co-editor of BurntOrangeNation.com as well as Director of College Network, SB Nation. He will lend thoughts on how the Longhorns are preparing in California as he travels with the team, and how the coaches are handling all the "clutter."

Also on the program, Andrew McNeill will join me to talk about fans, the players, and the excitement.

McNeill is the creator, writer and editor for ATX Sports.
