2010 Texas Film Hall of Fame Inductees

At Thursday night's Texas Film Hall of Fame Awards, the Austin Film Society recognized a variety of contributors to the Texas film industry.

The main attraction at the event seemed to be director Quentin Tarantino, who received the Honorary Texan award.  He was honored by co-presenters Richard Linklater, the director who founded the Austin Film Society ten years ago, and Punky Bruiser of the Lonestar Rollergirls, who worked with Tarantino on his grindhouse film Death Proof.

Lukas Haas was inducted into the Hall of Fame by Lyle Lovett in recognition of his work as an actor.  Bruce McGill also received the honor, presented by fellow actor Tim Matheson.  Michael Nesmith, formerly of the Monkees, was recognized for his producing work with a Lifetime Achievement award.

The Star of Texas award was presented for Waiting for Guffman, Christopher Guest's 1996 comedy about a local theater troupe.  Actor Catherine O'Hara accepted the award.

The event was emceed by actor Thomas Haden Church.
